REVISED MUSIC CAMP SCHEDULE

11:00am – Welcome!
  • Dylan McDonald will explain the Purpose and Goals of the Music Camp.

  • The McDonald Family Singers will also perform selections of the music to be learned at the camp to set expectations for the participants.

11:30am – Singing Basics
  • Participants will discover their vocal range, begin to identify pitch, learn basic breathing techniques, and practice the musical scale using Solfège (Do, Re, Mi syllables).

12:15pm – Introduction to Liturgical Latin
  • Participants will practice Ecclesiastical Latin pronunciation and learn basic vocabulary for the Sacred Liturgy.

1:00pm – Sacred Music/Gregorian Chant (Music for Church)

  • Consecration of the Family to the Sacred Heart

  • Final Hymn

Conference Tomorrow, 7/31 @ 11am

Tomorrow, Feast of St. Ignatius, I will be giving a conference at 11am (after the 9am Mass) at St. Michael the Archangel church in Farmingville, Long Island.

My topic will be:

Building Upon Rock:  How Catholic Families Can Joyfully Weather Today's Storms.

Every one therefore that heareth these my words, and doth them,
shall be likened to a wise man that built his house upon a rock,

And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew,
and they beat upon that house, and it fell not, for it was founded on a rock.
(Matthew 7:24-25)

Our Lady:  Would you like to offer yourselves to God, to accept all the sufferings which He may send you in reparation for the countless sins by which He is offended and in supplication for the conversion of sinners?

Lucia (speaking for all three children):  Yes, we want to.

New Song: "In My Heart"

Remembering Our Little Ones

Joanne and I were interested to learn that October 15th is a national day of remembrance for all babies lost through miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant death.  In a remarkable life-affirming act of Congress, this day was officially set aside for our country in 2006.  Here is a copy of the Congressional Resolution (H. Con. Res. 222):

National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Day

Here's a website dedicated to this day:  www.October15th.com

In Memory of our son, Dylan Joseph-Gabriel (+August 5, 2007)

The loss of our stillborn son, Dylan Joseph-Gabriel, in 2007 was the most difficult trial Joanne and I have gone through together.  We would have given our lives on the spot just to see him open his eyes.  I wrote the song, In My Heart, as part of our own grieving process.  Here it is in video format.  We dedicate this song to all parents who have lost a child through miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant death.

Click the picture below to watch the video with the song on Gloria.tv.

FCLC Radio Interview

Joanne and I were recently interviewed on the radio program, The Voice of Catholic Tradition, based in Long Island, New York (1370 WALK-AM).

We were asked about FCLC and some of the struggles parents face in living a Catholic family life today.

To listen to the interview, visit the program's website:
